Field Trips, French Booklets, Song, and Halloween

A few reminders before the end of the week…

Field Trips

We are very fortunate to have received two complimentary field trips!

Museum of Anthropology – Tuesday, November 8th

Vancouver Aquarium – Thursday, December 1st

You should have received forms for these field trips in your child’s pochette today.  As we did last time, please return both forms together with the total payment of $13 (which covers part of the cost of the transportation) in an envelope or sealed ziplock bag.

Please indicate if you are available to volunteer and we will reach out to parents to confirm closer to the date.  If you do not hear from us, we will try our best to have you join us at a later date (this also applies to the Nutcracker performance in December).

French Booklets

We are currently going through materials and have started packing for the upcoming move into the new Junior Building.  We are losing much of our storage space and have decided to give away materials we no longer use.

We came across several photocopied booklets which we will be giving away (or recycling!).  The booklets are simple repetitive texts and are perfect for beginner readers.  The Home Reading program will be starting in January, so now is your chance to do some French reading with your child at home.

You are invited to come to the classroom next Wednesday, November 2nd to browse these booklets and take some home with you.

The classroom will be open from 9:00-9:30am while the students are at music.

If you are unable to make this time and would like some booklets, please let us know and we can make other arrangements.

The TENTATIVE move date is December 5th.  If all goes according to plan, our first day in the new classroom will be December 6th.  We will keep you posted as there is a chance the date could be pushed back.

Song of the Week

The students will be bringing home their songbooks tomorrow to share with you a special Halloween song.  There is no link to this song, but here are a few songs they have been practicing in music class with Mr. Butler.

Halloween

Students are invited to wear their Halloween costume to school on Monday.  We will be doing some fun Halloween activities with the other French Immersion classes in the morning and will be watching a movie in the afternoon.

If you plan to send a Halloween treat with your child, please let us know ahead of time.

Merci et bon weekend!

  1. Madame Lexy and Madame Stewart,

I would like to receive some of the French booklets you are giving away, as William could use the reading practice. Unfortunately I was unable to come to the class this morning. If you could put some aside, I could pick them up tomorrow.

    Merci,

    Michael Casserly
